Tubos Reunidos Group has been honored with one of the Retina ECO Awards 2025, in the category of Energy and Green Resources, for its groundbreaking solution O-Next®, the world’s first seamless steel tube manufactured with net-zero CO₂ emissions.
The fifth edition of the Retina ECO Awards, organized by PRISA Media in collaboration with Capgemini, aims to highlight innovations from companies, SMEs and public institutions committed to sustainability. Once again, the awards ceremony was held under the patronage of Her Majesty Queen Letizia, who presided over the event and personally presented the awards.
The ceremony took place today at the Real Teatro de Retiro in Madrid. Our CEO, Carlos López de las Heras, accepted the award on behalf of the company.
During the opening remarks, Sara Aagesen, Third Vice-President of the Government and Minister for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, stated:“These awards are a map of green innovation in Spain, showing the way forward through revolutionary thinking and recognizing solid, scalable, and transformative projects.”
Pilar Gil, CEO of PRISA Media and Vice-Chair of the Board of Directors, emphasized:“We’ve been working for years to recognize the efforts and commitment of companies and organizations to sustainability.”She also highlighted the urgency of the environmental crisis: “Just over a year ago, at the fourth edition of the awards, I warned that we were losing the fight against climate change.”
Luis Abad, CEO of Capgemini Spain, added that: “The momentum toward sustainability is weakening,” referring to a study by the consultancy which revealed that only 21% of companies planning to increase sustainability investments have a clear roadmap to execute it. He continued:“Some of the actions we propose include promoting the circular economy, investing in cutting-edge infrastructure and artificial intelligence, and ensuring clear, straightforward communication, because transparency is non-negotiable. Sustainability is not just a destination; we must take full responsibility for the journey we are undertaking.”
In this context, O-Next® was recognized as a disruptive solution, capable of providing an efficient, scalable, and real answer to the decarbonization of industrial sectors, reinforcing Tubos Reunidos Group’s strong commitment to sustainability and technological innovation. This advancement has already been implemented in real orders, proving its industrial feasibility and direct impact on the energy transition. To date, we have sold more than 10,500 tons of our seamless tube with net-zero emissions in Europe and the United States.
We extend our congratulations to the other award-winning organizations: Veolia – Barcelona City Council, Endesa – City Councils of Seville, Málaga, and Granada, La Paloma Cerámica, Semillas Fitó,and Muelles y Ballestas Hispano Alemanas.
