Tubos Reunidos Group participates in H2SKID, a strategic project to accelerate the industrial validation of green hydrogen

Bilbao, January 23, 2026 – Tubos Reunidos Group is participating in H2SKID, a strategic R&D&I project aimed at the development of a 1.25 MW experimental portable electrolyzer, conceived as an enabling solution for the supply of green hydrogen to final industrial users. The initiative brings together 11 leading companies from across the Basque hydrogen value chain and has been launched with the objective of accelerating the industrial validation of this technology under real operating conditions, a critical step for its large-scale industrial deployment.

The project responds to a key need within the energy and industrial sectors: the lack of flexible infrastructures that allow for long-term, reliable testing representative of real hydrogen use in industrial environments. In this regard, H2SKID is positioned as a key tool to reduce technological risks, generate operational knowledge and support informed decision-making prior to large-scale industrial investments.

A flexible platform for real-world industrial testing

H2SKID foresees the development of a compact, modular, “plug & play” platform specifically designed for integration into real industrial environments. The solution will be compatible with AEM and PEM electrolysis technologies and will be integrated into containerized modules that jointly incorporate hydrogen production, compression and storage.

This approach makes it possible to faithfully reproduce real operating conditions, which is essential to assess the performance of equipment, auxiliary systems and materials over time. In addition, the portability of the platform facilitates deployment at different industrial sites, bringing hydrogen production closer to the point of consumption and enabling long-duration testing campaigns that are critical to validating performance, safety and reliability.

Industrial collaboration and Tubos Reunidos Group’s contribution

The project is driven by the hydrogen area of Basquenergy Cluster and is coordinated by Sarralle. H2SKID is based on an industrial collaboration model that integrates technological, energy and manufacturing capabilities, strengthening the positioning of the Basque Country as a leading industrial ecosystem for the development of transition energy technologies.

Within this framework, Tubos Reunidos Group contributes its metallurgical and industrial expertise through the development and validation of seamless steel tubes designed to meet the specific demands of hydrogen service. Material performance in hydrogen environments is a critical factor in ensuring the safety, reliability and durability of industrial infrastructures, making this contribution essential to transforming technological innovation into solutions ready to operate under real conditions.

The Group’s experience in demanding industrial applications and its strong track record in applied innovation further reinforce the technical robustness of the project and help build confidence in the use of hydrogen as an energy vector for industrial processes.

Industrial impact, decarbonization and long-term vision

The solution developed within the H2SKID project will be validated in a real industrial environment, strengthening the practical applicability of the results and facilitating knowledge transfer to the wider industrial sector. The project will contribute to accelerating industrial decarbonization by enabling the progressive integration of green hydrogen into energy-intensive production processes.

Participation in H2SKID is fully aligned with Tubos Reunidos Group’s strategy based on applied innovation, sustainability and long-term value creation. Through initiatives such as this, the Group consolidates its role as a technological partner in the development of advanced industrial solutions that drive the energy transition and enhance the competitiveness of the industrial fabric.
