Amurrio, 29 January 2026. Tubos Reunidos has appointed Joaquín Fernández de Piérola as Non-Executive Chairman of the Company, as approved today by its Board of Directors.
Josu Calvo has submitted his resignation as Chairman at his own request, due to the considerable increase in the level of dedication required by Tubos Reunidos, which would prevent him from carrying out the role under the conditions of excellence and commitment required by good corporate governance. The Board of Directors has expressly wished to thank Josu Calvo for his significant contribution to the Company during his term as Chairman. Carlos López de la Heras, for his part, continues as Chief Executive Officer.
The Board has also appointed Carmen Montellón as Independent Director. She is an engineer with extensive experience serving on boards of directors.
With the appointment of Joaquín Fernández de Piérola as Independent Director and Non-Executive Chairman, and Carmen Montellón García as Independent Director, Tubos Reunidos Group strengthens its Board of Directors to address the demanding challenges the Group will face in the coming years.
Joaquín Fernández de Piérola Marín holds a degree in Economics and Business Administration from the University of Zaragoza and has specialised in Marketing at the University of the West of England (UWE), Bristol, United Kingdom. He has completed the Senior Management Programme (PDG) at IESE Business School and holds a Diploma in Corporate Governance from the Spanish Institute of Directors (ICA).
He began his professional career at the Commercial Offices of the Spanish Embassies in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia) and Baghdad (Iraq). He later served as International Director of the Spanish water group gHT and joined Befesa Agua (former water subsidiary of Abengoa) in mid-2003, where he held various roles in business development and concessions within the water sector. He subsequently became Vice President of Business Development for the Middle East and Asia in Abengoa’s Engineering and Construction division. In 2013, he was appointed Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Abengoa México. In November 2015, he was appointed Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of Abengoa and, in 2016, Vice Chairman and CEO, serving as the company’s Chief Executive Officer until June 2021.
He is currently Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors of Zerintia Healthtech, Independent Director of CCLA Holdings, and also advises various companies and investment funds.
Carmen Montellón is a Civil Engineer and holds an MBA. She has extensive experience in auditing and organisational transformation. She is currently a Board Member of Mercedes-Benz España and Cecabank. She has also served as a Board Member of Sareb, IMF Smart Education Group, Minas de Almadén y Arrayanes and the Royal Mint of Spain (Real Casa de la Moneda y Timbre), as well as a member of the Advisory Committee of the Spanish Securities Market Commission (CNMV).
